We know that POTUS has been part of the elite his whole life.
We also know he loves to take his strong opinions and rants to Twitter, at @realDonaldTrump and @POTUS. But how much does he actually talk about poverty or income inequality? Turns out, not much. In a search of Trump’s tweets, I found that of 34,500 tweets, only two tweets included the words inequality and low income. And no surprise, in each of the tweets he bashed Obama and how he is increased income inequality.
Trump is constantly criticizing others in his tweets. During the campaign, Trump did tweet about poverty, but it usually involved dissing Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate.
On Aug 25, 2016, Trump said that he would be the one to fix poverty and crimes in the African-American community. I believe that Trump has the right mind set about creating more jobs. But I don’t think he’s doing it ethically or that he’s helping situations like Ferguson.
More tweets came up after searching the word “poor.” However, the majority of them were making fun or bashing other people. The only tweet relevant to poverty said, “It’s important that we help poor people to become independent, self-sufficient individuals who gain the benefits of work. #TimeToGetTough.” Just because “poor people” have less money or income does not mean they aren’t independent or self-sufficient. If Trump spent a day homeless on the streets, I think it could completely change his views.
